What can I do to reduce my plastic consumption?

You've seen the ugly facts on plastic consumption. What can you do to help the environment? (and also to save the 10cents)
  1. Use reusable bags. - Reusable bags come in many kinds of designs, and are comparatively more durable than plastic bags. On top of that, you don't have to worry about where to throw your bag, plus you can make a reusable bag stand - mostly plastic bags cannot stand.
  2. Reuse your plastic bags. - Plastic bags do not become poisonous once they are used. A normal plastic bag can be reused as many times as needed, as long as they are not torn or dirtied. Even if they are dirtied, you can use them as rubbish bin liners.
  3. Don't use plastic bags at all. - You just bought a waffle and want to eat it. You have the transparent plastic bag that holds your waffle. You don't need a plastic carrier for that.
  4. Maximize the utility of plastic bags. - You don't need five bags for things that can be put together. You don't need to dump your rubbish bag before it's full. Make full use of the plastic bags you have.
  5. Refuse straws. - Don't drink hot drinks through straws, it'll be very hot. Don't expect the straw to be much cleaner than the plastic cup you drink from either. In short, you don't really need straws unless you want to shoot ice at your friends.
  6. Bring your own Tupperware to take away food. - Well food is one thing you must use plastic for right? You can bring your own Tupperware and request that the stallholder pack your food in your Tupperware. You might get more food as gratitude from the vendors for saving them their plastic boxes. Put the Tupperware in your reusable bag. Or the plastic bag that you brought yourself. Or just hold it in your hand.
  7. Refuse disposable utensils. - Unless you are taking away, refuse disposable utensils. Don't make our dishwashers unemployed! If you are taking away, bring your own Tupperware and utensils.
